Ed Verosky - Your Instructor
“Over the past several years, my flash photography eBooks and courses have helped thousands of photographers improve their lighting and portraiture. This new course is an evolution; VIDEO instruction to make learning easier.
“I wanted to put together the single best flash for portraiture course out there. Something with real substance that gets right to the point, with no BS, and all about getting real results for you. This course features video instruction that really drives the lessons home, it’s not about dazzling you with high-production effects, or exotic locations most of us will never use. No celebrity models. No legendary photographers promoting some brand or agenda. No fluff. My course is about teaching you EXACTLY what you need to know to get moving on this stuff as soon as possible.”
Here’s What You’ll Learn How To Do…
⦁ Introduction & Overview
⦁ Getting Started with On-Camera Flash
⦁ On-Camera Flash Modifiers
⦁ On-Camera Flash Portrait Techniques
⦁ PHOTO ASSIGNMENT
We begin our course with an introduction and overview, and cover the advantages of using flash for portraiture. We’ll also go over some important camera/flash features and controls including basic exposure concepts you should become familiar with, if you’re not already. Flash modifiers, including DIY versions will be discussed next. Finally, we’ll dive right into using your on-camera flash to create professional-quality portraits!
⦁ Off-Camera Flash Overview
⦁ Off-Camera Flash Gear Recommendations
⦁ Off-Camera Remote Triggering
⦁ One-Light Portrait Techniques
⦁ PHOTO ASSIGNMENT
Here’s where we get into the basics of off-camera flash portraiture. This is going to be an exciting introduction to getting the kind of light you can only achieve with remote flash. Everything you need to get started will be covered in detail. Just follow along and you’ll have no problem setting up your first remote (off-camera) flash for portraiture. You’ll learn to create headshots in a variety of styles (standard, classic, dramatic).
⦁ Two-Light Portrait Techniques
⦁ Three-Point Lighting Techniques
⦁ Various Studio Lighting Setups
⦁ Controlling Backdrop Exposure and Color
⦁ PHOTO ASSIGNMENT
You’ve learned one-light portraiture, now it’s time to move on to more sophisticated lighting. Just moving up to a two-light setup will open up a whole new world of portraiture for you. But we’ll also get into the details of three-point lighting and traditional studio-style lighting setups (all with your flash units!). Backdrops will also be covered.
⦁ Environmental Portraiture
⦁ Outdoor Flash (Fill and Main)
⦁ Working with Mixed Lighting
⦁ Standardizing Your Technique
This module wraps up the course with overviews of important topics. This includes how to approach environmental portraiture; consider the lighting in the background when creating a portrait that tells our subject’s story. Outdoor flash and mixed lighting are discussed as is creating a fool-proof, standardized approach to your portraiture.

Should I buy this course if I already have your other ebooks/course on flash photography?
Yes. If you think you can benefit from learning from video lessons featuring audio narration, live action, and animation (in other words, if you learn visually), then you’ll get something out of this course. Even if you’ve studied flash before, from me or other teachers, this will be a great refresher course for you.
What gear do I need to take this course?
You’ll need a standard DSLR and a compatible TTL flash. As you progress, you might want to invest in a couple more flash units and some of the lighting gear I talk about. I’ll offer gear lists and suggestions on how to save money (and not make some costly purchase mistakes I’ve made).
How is this different from your Creative Portrait Photography course?
This Flash For Headshots and Portraiture course teaches you how to achieve professional results and make short work of a session using good flash techniques. The Creative Portrait course is about creating artistic portraits and it doesn’t go into the technical details of lighting, but emphasizes freestyle portraiture and portfolio-building.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Always. You have 60 days to decide whether or not you’d like to continue with the course. If you don’t like it, just tell me you’d like a refund and I’ll send your money back to you, no questions asked.
